Excerpt: vegetarian hunting

'I'm afraid you did manage to hit something,' he said over the sound of rustling leaves.

Wonderful, as if missing her target wasn't humiliating enough. 'Let me guess. It's hopelessly stuck in a tree, isn't it?'

'Oh no, on the contrary...' Orion stood up and shook off the plant matter that clung to his clothes. He waved triumphantly with the arrow in his hand. A brownish lump of fungus was stuck on it like meat on a skewer. 'You've managed to kill a mushroom. Congratulations.'

She snorted. 'Thanks. I love hunting the vegetarian way.'
